  1. Samuel Beckett‚Äôs clowns. After three thousand years of 
  2. specialist explosion and of increasing specialism and alienation 
  3. in the technological extensions of our bodies, our world has 
  4. become compressional by dramatic reversal. As electrically 
  5. contracted, the globe is no more than a village. Electric speed in 
  6. bringing all social and political functions together in a sudden 
  7. implosion has heightened human awareness of responsibility to 
  8. an intense degree. It is this implosive factor that alters the 
  9. position of the Negro, the teen-ager, and some other groups. 
  10. They can no longer be contained , in the political sense of 
  11. limited association. They are now involved  in our lives, as we in 
  12. theirs, thanks to the electric media.

  15. implosion that compels commitment and participation, quite
